Armstrong emerged against the Detroit Pistons. In his first career start, he scored 17 and grabbed 9 boards. He also showed some guts and heroics in the final seconds, first sinking the winning free throw and then swatting away his own miss on the second attempt as time expired.
Remember, Armstrong was successful at UConn, along with fellow 2006 draftees PG Marcus Williams, SF Rudy Gay and PF Josh Boone. Now he's in a better position to succeed because of Paul's brilliance, SF Peja Stojakovic's zone-busting shot and he'll play alongside front court stalwart David West.

What if I already have great centers (Yao, Shaq, Ben Wallace)? Will he be a stand-out this season or just a nice sleeper for someone who drafted their centers in late rounds?
I think in a position like this, it's both easy and difficult for you to take a chance on Armstrong. Easy because he'd be your fourth center and you wouldn't be counting on much from him. Hard because you have to justify dropping someone for a fourth center. If you have someone to drop readily available, do it because a.) Armstrong might qualify as a PF and still have value for you, and b.) I know I'd hate to see one of my opponents snag the upside that Armstrong has.
